I have white tile in my master bathroom shower and soaking tub. The cabinets are medium oak, what color for the floor? I want to use tile on the floor, but I am not sure if I have to go with white or if it is ok to go with something else.

Any nice neutral color would do in that situation. Any nice neutral colored large tile would work for you ,go get some tile samples from your retailer ,take them home and see how you like them.

1 If the floor is white, then white will overwhelm, making the oak look out of place. You need to make the floor neutrals to go with the oak. I'd suggest stoneware tile, with a similar tonal range to your oak cabinets.

Don't get large shiny tiles for the bathroom floor- you can slip and fall that way. It should be small tiles with wide grout, or large tiles with texture to them.

2 I agree with part of what Magenta said. Making the floor white will be somewhat overwhelming; however, this depends entirely upon your taste and preference. Large, high-gloss tiles should be avoided as well.

Although textured tiles are preferable to help prevent injury, you should go with a subtle texture that does not have any jagged edges, no matter how small. These will tear wet, sensitive skin and be next to impossible to clean. A slight rise and fall look, sort of a miniature rolling hills look, would best serve this capacity.

Color, as stated previously, should depend upon your own tastes. With the colors you currently have, my suggestion would be to go with a light oak, lighter shade than the cabinets, to compliment the cabinets and offset the white without contrasting it too much. There are many different selections available at your local home improvement retail outlet.

Take your time and make sure you select something that you will be totally satisfied with. Good luck.

3 I would use small hexagonal (and non-glazed) tiles, alternating between black and white. This will bring sort of a "retro" feel to the otherwise mundane-sounding bathroom. This user has been banned from Askville.

4 If you go to a tile center or a home center they usually have many options on display and pictures of finished rooms. I like the pebble finishes that being in a couple of colors. With the cabinets and walls being very neutral bringing in color on the floor would be nice.

What color towels or accent pictures do you like? The floor can have a bit of those colors to tie everything in.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
