Definitely. Old AM3 chips are pretty cheap on the second hand market. You could upgrade to a much faster Phebom II X6 1100T for about $80.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
