I purchased a used computer with a VISTA operating system license no disk, what do I do?

I purchased a used computer with a VISTA operating system license no disk, what do I do. I purchased a used computer from Auction and it said it came with VISTA Home Professional O/S license KEY. I didn't really care, because I have a legal copy of WINDOWS XP Professional, but it is 32 bit and the new computer is 64 bit, I want to see if the VISTA Home Professional 64 bit is that much supperior to the XP 32 bit, but I don't know how to take advantage of the license key the computer came with.

Vista is not worth it! I don't think that Vista is worth the trouble! While, according to tests / benchmarks like news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-versus-W... there's indeed an increase in performance in a 64-bit OS IF YOUR APPLICATION IS 64-BIT AS WELL!

This means that you must have a 64-bit application or program to achieve the performance gain. Since MOST (if not all) applications are 32-bit, you really won't feel an increase in the performance even if you OS is 64-bit. Here's a knowledgebase article from Microsofthttp://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=895361Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office XP are designed to run on 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems.

When you run any of these programs on a 64-bit version of a Windows operating system, the program runs in the 32-bit layer of the Windows operating system. Microsoft supports running the versions of Office 2007, Office 2003, and Office XP that are listed in the "More Information" section in the 32-bit layer of 64-bit versions of Windows. When you run any of 32-bit programs on a 64-bit version of a Windows operating system, the program runs in the 32-bit layer of the Windows operating system.

Another issue why I don't recommend Vista is COMPATIBILITY! Many hardware tend to be unoperational under a Vista OS (most of them because of lack of driver support from the hardware manufacturer). Also, Vista is VERY VERY BLOATED!

The operating system alone consumes LOTS OF RAM leaving little for your running programs. Aside from those, many programs also tend to 'break' or become unoperational under Windows Vista. If you are a gamer, chances are some of your games will not run under Vista.

All in all, since you already have a legal license of Windows XP Professional, I recommend downgrading your OS and just use the legal copy of your WinXP Pro. Trust me! That's what I did, together with thousand of other users!

BTW, there's no Vista Home Professional. The four versions of Vista are:a. Home Basicb.

Home Premiumc. Businessd. UltimateFor a comparison of features, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/choose.mspxLastly, if you own either OEM Vista Business or OEM Vista Ultimate, you are ENTITLED of have your license to be downgraded into Windows XP Pro.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
