I'd like to get rid of my land-line phone service, and my broadband. Then I'd like to use my cell phone and a wireless?

I'd like to get rid of my land-line phone service, and my broadband. Then I'd like to use my cell phone and a wireless Internet connection for my desktop and my laptops, I have an apple and a gateway. Has anyone done this.

Would it be a more expensive way to go? I need to travel with my laptops so what service should I use Verizon or at&t? My contract is up with my cell company so I am free to choose a new one.

Any suggestions? Asked by DuhTeacher 51 months ago Similar questions: rid land line phone service broadband cell wireless Consumer Electronics > Cell Phones & Accessories.

Try T-Mobile - but rethink your decision To my knowledge, T-Mobile has the best rates around for cellular Internet. They are my carrier, and although I don't use their Edge network, I get this info from my bro-in-law, who is something of a cell phone freak. I also did some shopping around when my contract was up with Sprint, and T-Mobile had the best rates for me and my wife combined on the same account.

Their coverage is not as good as Sprint's was in my area, but I don't notice much of a difference. However, I used to work for AT&T, at Bell Labs, and I still advise people against ditching their land lines. Because of stringent Federal regulations, land lines are very reliable, and will often work when everything else has been knocked out due to bad weather.

I'd also advise that you rethink getting rid of broadband in favor of Edge (cellular internet). It will cost you at least $70/mo. , more if you are a heavy user, and you will be disappointed with the speed if you are used to a broadband connection.

If you have a wireless-enabled laptop, there are lots of WiFi hotspots around the country where you can get on the Internet for free. Most Starbucks, many public libraries, and even some municipalities have free WiFi that is better and faster than you can get with Edge. There is more of it going in every day, and I expect that eventually, Edge networks will just disappear.

Be prepared for a huge cell phone bill... If you use nothing but your cell phone for you internet connection, be prepared for a huge cell phone bill. Also, your probably going to want to pull your hair out because the connection is so slow. You can't beat a cable modem for the money even if you do travel a lot.

I used to travel a lot and I only stayed at hotels that had high speed internet in the rooms. Most of them have that now so it shouldn't be a problem. The only reason I could think of to use my cell as my internet connection is in a dire emergency. It's not worth the price and the connection speed is horrible.

Not to mention, cell phones are a lot more prone to dropping the connection.

Is there any cell phones U CAN BUY FROM amazon that you can metro service on.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
