IE Compatibility Mode: 'X-UA-Compatible' tag 'Edge' question?

It will force IE8 mode, never Compatibility mode.

It will force IE8 mode, never Compatibility mode. If the browser stills ends up in Compatibiliity mode either you are missing a sane doctype, or the browser has been set to always use compatibility mode. This tag is a must for any site being hosted on what Microsoft considers to be on an "Intranet" as the default for intranet sites in IE8 is to use compatibility mode.

That's a huge issue for many business applications.

I mean, if you want IE to use the most recent rendering engine, then just drop the whole meta tag. Otherwise, it should look something like that (that would make IE8 behave like IE7 and IE9 and newer will work as usual).

In cases I've seen, you either specify IE=8 (or some other number) requesting a behaviour in IE close to that of IE8, or you specify IE=edge to request the native behaviour of the actual version used in IE. – Rasmus Kaj Nov 9 at 15:52 @Rasmus, the point is, you actually can specify multiple modes. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
