If I answer a question on Mahalo, am I liable to being sued if the answer is incorrect, and the person asking the question suffers damage?

I am going to take the risk and answer your question. Please don't sue me for my response as it is just one persons personal view on the matter, and I am just going to staight up say I am not liable for this answer, read it at your own risk. The safe thing to do would be to not answer that type of question if you feel unconfortable with them.

First off, people online don't know who you are, because on Mahalo we all have usernames, to protect our identity. Mahalo many beable to track us down, but that would take a really long time. I am going to go ahead and quote the top of the page when I go to this question --quote-- Mahalo Answers is a great place to start your research, but it's not the final answer.

Mahalo Answers is not a substitute for informed professional advice. If you desire or require professional advice, please consult a qualified provider who is licensed in your state or country. You should always seek independent professional advice before acting on any opinion, advice, or information available on Mahalo Answers.

--quote-- Mahalo basically summed it up, we may be professionals, but our advice is just average advice. People ask and answer questions for their own benefit, and it is up to them if they want to accept the given information. Just like Wikipedia, people do give out false info, and you take it, its at your own risk.It will be your choice if you want to accept my final answer saying that we can not be sued, and it is not our fault if people misread, or we are sllightly incorrect with our information.

You can not sue me if you get sued for another answer. Although, you might feel kinda bad if you found out someone got hurt because of your answer.

I agree that it would be nice to get a notification of anything and everything done to the page... questions getting asked, comments on featured items, discussions on the message board (there might be one for that... not sure) and especially if someone else needs to modify my page for me for some reason. But currently that is not the case. Your question does go immediately to the Mahalo Answers section of the site, in the same category as your page, I believe... and it has a link back to your page right on the question.

Once that question gets even a single answer, it will show up in the mahalo answers section on your page where it was asked from this is why it is useful to go to your own pages and ask related questions when you have unrelated questions showing up on your page. I beg to differ on one point you have brought up, though. In all fairness, just because you manage the page does not mean you are the most qualified to answer.

Many people here who give absolutely awesome answers do not manage any pages. And if I have a page on Train Engineers, even if I have done massive amounts of research I bet a retired or current train engineer would be more qualified to answer the question. I could also answer if I saw the question, and as soon as that expert weighed in, the question would appear on my page and I would see it and be able to answer it even if I missed it before.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
