If my spouse had breast cancer 7 yrs. ago, what should I expect to find while shopping for health insurance?

If my spouse had breast cancer 7 yrs. Ago, what should I expect to find while shopping for health insurance? I understand buying into COBRA is a good idea for 18 months, but after that are we going to be rejected for health insurance because of her history?

Will they simply not cover cancer-related expenses? Or will they offer insurance at a really high cost? Asked by goocher019 50 months ago Similar questions: spouse breast cancer yrs ago expect find shopping health insurance Business > Insurance.

You can have a rider on your policy to exclude care for Cancer Shop around. Some carriers may not cover you with individual coverage because of the past history. I think you should be able to find some coverage that will take care of most health issues that is affordable if you exclude care for cancer until you build some history with a carrier.

I think that after a period of cancer free condition that you may be able to get coverage again for cancer. If you keep your COBRA and have no gap in coverage for 90 days. If you can get on Group coverage again (through another employer) you may be able to still get coverage.

Good luck.

I think it is State dependent Depends on the State I believe. My wife has had it twice. Last occurance was a little over 5 years ago.

I just retired so we had to get our own insurance coverage. Since it was over 5 years there was no problem getting insurance and for no more money than what anyone else our age pays.

Depends on their acceptance criteria. An issue like that would be considered a pre-existing condition, but policies vary in regards to what time frame they use as criteria. We're going thru this at work right now.

One plan considers what you've been treated for medically only over the last five years, a second only three. If your spouse has not received cancer related treatment (chemo, radiation, followup testing etc) in the last 7 years, then you would not be required to disclose the previous treatment to a company only asking about the last 3-5 years.

They will probably want something in your file showing you;ve been cancer free for at least 5 years. If carriers deny you and you are uninsured for at least 6 months, you can get into a Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plans (PCIP). Html.

1 They will offer you insurance at a really high cost. That is all I can tell you as an insurance agent myself. One of my clients just had this happen to her with Blue Cross. It's all available but with an exorbitant price because they consider it high risk at that point.

Give me an estimate of how much term life insurance would cost for a 42 year old non-smoker man who had cancer 5 yrs ago.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
