Mikef: Not having a cleft chin definitely does *NOT* rule out that you are the "other son's" father! Nor, for that matter, does it definitely rule in that you are the father of the son with the cleft chin. It is a genetic trait, and not every child will inherit it.

Please, please, do not base your determination on what traits of yours a child did or did not inherit! Remember that half of what a child is comes from each parent, and from each parent's ancestors as well. You simply CAN NOT base paternity on how the child looks!

I hope that is straightforward and clear enough. Now, if you truly have reason to doubt paternity, and feel the need to pursue the matter, it is simple enough to have genetic DNA testing done. It doesn't even require blood draws any more, just a buccal (mouth) swab.

Wiki says:his is an inherited trait in humans, where the dominant gene causes the cleft chin while the recessive genotype presents without a cleft. However, it is also a classic example for variable penetrance5 with environmental factors or a modifier gene possibly affecting the phenotypical expression of the actual genotype. I would recommend another paternity test if you are really not sure, but one son NOT having a cleft chin does not in any way indicate that he is not the father.

I have 2 daughters. One has a cleft chin. One doesn't.

They both have the same father who DOES have a cleft chin. So yes it could definitely be his son too.

2 It depends on if mom was messing around or not. My husband has a cleft chin. My oldest has it.My middle one doesn't .

My youngest has a small one. All three are definately from the same father. My middle one just takes after me. You could look at my kids and say, "Blonde hair?

Neither of you are blonde, so are your kids adopted?" Genetics, my friend...genetics.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
