If you are infantryman in a ancient Chinese battle, and see the enemy general happily slaying your brethren by the dozen, why rush in?

I'd rush in for revenge. The general has killed my brother in arms, and letting them die in vain is worse than dying yourself. Obviously if the battle is being fought it has a purpose.

A purpose that I would believe in. Besides. Asking that question is like saying, thousands of people are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, why not run to Canada to escape deployment.

That's not how it works.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
