If you leave bottled water in the car, does the heat cause the plastic to release harmful toxins into the water?

Similar questions: leave bottled water car heat plastic release harmful toxins.

Technically, yes, but not to a dangerous level. The plastic approved by the FDA to contain potable water (drinkable) has been tested for leaching chemicals under all conditions. Yes, all plastics leach some chemicals, and heat can speed up this process.

The important part is the level of toxic chemicals. The FDA has determined that the approved plastics do not leach enough toxic chemicals to come anywhere close to the maximum safe levels. We come into contact with toxic chemicals every day in air, water, and food.

Our civilization has found techniques good enough to minimize the levels of these toxins to where they do not affect us. These bottles have been transported in unrefrigerated trucks through deserts for hours at a time. Heat does increase leaching, but not anywhere near a dangerous level.

I hope this helps.

No The heated bottle releasing toxins into water is an urban legend. Bottled water that gets hot left in the car is safe to drink; however, you might want to put it on ice first. Sources: snopes.com/medical/toxins/petbottles.asp .

1 I CAN tell you that the warm water would provide a better host environment for the bacteria and other germs to multiply in if there is any in that water.

2 The toxins will be released anyway. The heat just speeds them up. Get a glass bottle and be careful with it.

3 I think they are released. You have to also ask (1) how much and (2) what do they do. My answer for myself is (1) not much and (2) same.

But I could be very wrong.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
