It is illegal, but yes, it is possible. It is illegal to make copies of the movies you purchase in a store, unless you explicit permission from the copyright holders and I doubt they will give you that permission. Some of the video editing software permits extracting video from DVDs without paying any attention to the copy protection on the disk, but just because you can do it does not make it right.

If you need copies of the movie, the best thing to do is to go back to the store and purchase another copy.

It's illegal legitimate software won't do it because it's illegal. There are some software products out there that will let you do this - and I've done it -- but I only did it to make a backup copy for myself. AND... even if the copying is not illegal, many movie DVDs are approx 8 gig, not the approx 4.5 gig of blank DVDs... so some additional software is needed to extract out the parts that you may not want, such as those extra interviews and advertising highlights...

You need to get the right software to rip & burn movies Just having the hardware (a DVD-ROM/ DVD writer) isn't always enough. You need to make sure you have some type of dvd ripping/burning software. There are lots of options out there...the best known is Nero ( go to: get-nero-now.com ) there are also a number of free/open source alternatives you can look into.

Go to: opensourcewindows.org/ and scroll down until you find the DVD ripping sections. Nero is easier because it will do everything for you automatically. , but you have to pay for it.

The free ones are, well, free, but you have to spend more time figuring them out. Good luck. Sources: My opinion .

DVD backups The way that I have made single backups of my movies is to "rip" the DVD to my hard drive with either "DVD Decrypter" or "DVD Fab Decrypter" (both do nearly the same thing). Once the movie is saved on the hard drive you have t see if it will fit on a standard DVD. If the files are too large to fit on the DVD you will need a program to shrink the files down.

I use "DVD Shrink" which seems to do an incredible job in making larger movies fit. It does (minimally) reduce the quality, but I have rarely noticed it. Then you can use your favorite burner program (or just use "DVD Decrypter") to burn the movie onto your blank DVD.

* I believe that it is legal to make a single backup of a DVD that you have purchased. It's a great thing with kids in the house. My daughter could open up the CD and DVD tray on my computer when she was less than a year old, so I like to archive my originals and use the backups for daily use.

* I hope this helps! Charlie Sources: my experience .

We weren't successful Through experimenting with DVDs, we’ve discovered that movies can’t be copied. Period. We were able to make a copy of a DVD of an old nature TV documentary that we had seen and liked, but that’s it.

Movies seem to have the safeguard that prevents any duplicating. We’ve tried several times using various titles.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
