It may not be it may not be such case that the number line stops at the center of the earth Sources: it is my opinion .

Using your system, the negative numbers would stop and then go positive at the center of the earth. Here is an interesting article:Topology and the Real Number Line We do not need to restrict ourselves to points in the physical universe. The word “not,” for example, is a distance of one letter away from the word “now.”

Thus, in everyday usage, the meaning of the word distance is not precise, but must be judged from context. math.niu.edu/~richard/Math302/chapter3.pdf" rel="nofollow">math.niu.edu/~richard/Math302/chapter3.pdf Sources: math.niu.edu/~richard/Math302/chapter3.pdf" rel="nofollow">math.niu.edu/~richard/Math302/chapter3.pdf .

1 You can do it that way, sure. It's a very earth-centric model of the universe, but for certain kinds of calculations, you can be very earth-centric. Generally, calculations based on sea level involve numbers fairly close to the surface, like pressure of deep oceans or the depths of mines, or the height of something in the atmosphere.

Once you get far away enough from sea level (like rocket ships or the the geology of the mantle) you usually use a set of coordinates based on the center of the earth instead. So in theory, the number line keeps going up from sea level, but it's rarely used beyond a few thousand miles.

2 If your negative numbers stopped at the centre of the Earth, then that would imply a finite number of negative numbers. For anyone who can count numbers can go to infinity in either direction. As high as you could count positive numbers, then you could count that low in negative numbers.

Right? I am most definitely not and never have been a math oriented person, and when I first saw your question, I agreed that it should end at the centre, but like I first said, that would imply a finite number when it comes to negative numbers.

3 If you use the sea level as "0" you can go negative to go below the sea and plus above the sea or vice versa, I would think not going above 1000 feet your limit, of course we both know that the number is infinite, depending how far you want to head into space.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
