If you were given an unlimited amount of money and told you could buy any one thing and money was no object?

Here's the rules: 1. It has to be something tangible - you can't give the money to charity or to a cause of any kind2.It can be only one item and it can be as expensive as you want3. You can't use the money to pay off bills or have an operation or get your teeth fixed etc. It has to be an actual item.

Why did you choose the item? And since its so bloody expensive, what are you going to do with it? Asked by OldppieHatesNewAV 42 months ago Similar questions: unlimited amount money told buy thing object Sports & Recreation.

A big boat of my own... =) I would buy a fully equipped yacht so I could sail around the world. Which is kind of odd actually, because I can't swim. .

But I've always enjoyed the romanticism of the sea and living on the sea in a yacht. . I'm not talking about one of those big ships that look like luxury cruise liners with big diesel engines and the size of lower Manhattan.. But it would be expensive nevertheless.

I'm talking about a yacht with actual sails (and at the same time an engine for rough weather... With genuine high quality wood construction (interior and exterior) as well as all the modern conveniences and technology on board.. Something big enough to house about a dozen people including crew. . I would also want to customize it in many ways to suit my tastes... For instance, it would definitely have a very well equipped kitchen... .

I would use it to take friends and family on sailing excursions around the world, probably spending a lot of time in the Caribbean sea and Mediterranean sea... It would also probably be a pretty good way to pick up some hot chicks who'd want to hang out on the poop deck in their bikinis! =) . These pictures give an idea of the sort of thing I have in mind: .

A retirement home. I would buy a home in one of those retirement villages that has assistance and nursing home facilities included in the purchase. Then we could go there when we are too old to work, live there on our own till we needed assistance, then live there with that until we have to move to the nursing home.

I worry about my future if I should live long enough to be old. I am afraid that our retirement won't be enough for us with all the prices going up as they are. I do not want to be so poor that people would get to pick on me when I am weak and defenseless.

And, since I would have no rent or mortgage payment, I could use my extra money for operations, charities, and all of the things you would not let me buy. I would buy a very special piece of land ..... The reason for my answer is quite simple. My parents are both immigrants from Portugal. My mom’s great-grandmother lost land that belonged to our family shortly before she passed away to the government there.

She lived in Saint Jorge Island in the Azores. The government wanted to build a road that connected one villiage to the other villiage and her property -- which was many, many, many acres of natural property -- was where they wanted to build the road. I went back their last August and despite the road that cuts through the land that she lost -- there is still plenty of this land that has not been destroyed. In this land grows Fig trees, Passion Fruit Trees, Lemon Trees and many more vegitation.

That is what I would do if I had that much money -- I would buy that land back for my family! I have a picture of the land but it will not allow me to upload it on this page -- sorry guys! Google Map It truly is a beautiful Island and I loved the month that I spent there.

St. Jorge Island is the long skinny island on the left side of the map. View Larger Map .

How to get rid of a lot of money without really trying My politically incorrect choice would be a big boat. I wouldn’t be greedy and say a yacht. Just a nice big boat.

I’d like it to comfortably sleep 4, have cooking and bathroom facilities, electricity, heat and air conditioning, hot and cold running water, and a nice deck for hanging out. About 40 feet and $1 million ought to do it. I’d take it up an down the east coast.

I’d do the Gulf of Mexico. I might get brave and go through the Panama Canal to the west coast. I’d love to do the boater’s Great Circle Route, which is up the east coast, up the Hudson River, west on the Erie Canal and the Great Lakes, south down the Mississippi River to the Gulf, and then back to the east coast.

Of course in addition to the boat, I’d need an open checkbook for gas. They’re not the most efficient form of transport, and it’s rapidly getting to the point that you might be able to buy the boat, but you’re not going to be able to run it. Oh well.

I suppose you could just polish the teak and the chrome. A diamond mine Perhaps one of the many diamond mines in South Africa (if the labor and governmental issues seemed stable). The big thing is that I'd want to use my money to buy something that would continue to generate money - that way I could donate to charities, build childrens' hospitals, build animal shelters, build a vault where I could swim in my money like Scrooge McDuck. I'd do it all with my diamonds.

Most people don't realize how common diamonds actually are - in Africa there are mountains and mountains worth of diamonds. If their retail cost represented the actual world supply, diamonds would be almost as cheap as rock salt (only slight exaggeration). The reason we pay so much for diamonds is that the diamond market has been tightly controlled for centuries.

They don't release too many at once. Thanks, DeBeers! I figure I could blow the lid off of that, and make a killing on diamonds just before shutting down one of the greatest natural material frauds in world history.

Why is it no one is ever happy with the amount of money they have.

Has anyone ever found a significant amount of money....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
