If your in a company car and you get in a car accident (where you rear end someone that slammed on the brakes)?

Poppet! Said: 1 In Michigan he would be at fault for traveling too close for a safe stopping distance. Generally if you hit someone in the rear end, you are the one at fault, doesn't matter if they slam on their brakes.

I would guess it might be the same in California. Can't say if he will get fired or not! Hopefully, not!

2 In Ohio, what happened to him is called "unassured clear distance". It means that you are supposed to stay far enough back that even if the people in front of you slam on the brakes, you are supposed to stay far enough back to stop without hitting them. If he "junked" the car- he must of been driving a little too fast.As for getting fired, it is up to the boss.

If one of the guys I work with had an accident in the company car that happened like your the one your bf caused, my boss would fire him, no question.

It would be terribly unfair that an employee would be terminated because of a company car accident. If the car was junked it is because the repair would cost more than the value of the car. In NJ we have the "no fault insurance" and you go to you own insurance company to get your car fixed.

If it is not your fault your insurance co. Will go to the guilty person's insurance company to collect the deductible. I worked at a place that leased brand new cars for the sales people.

On the first week, one of them, a new employee, had a fender bender. The car was fixed and all back to normal. Then another few months later same guy..... fender bender.

It came to light that he was very distracted and the minor accidents was a reality in his life. The company told him to use his own car and they would pay him mileage and expenses for the use and auto depreciation. For him, saved face not having to tell everybody that ...... Ooooops, happened again.

After couple years he was let go for not selling enough and he sued the company claiming that the accidents were consequence of stress caused by the job and pressure by the boss. He got $30,000.00 for his "suffering". If your friend is an aggressive driver and driving it’s part of his job he has to redeem himself and prove to the employer that he will be safe and not killl anyone........ at least on company’s time.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
