I'm trying to find the title and author of a fiction mystery book from the 1990's?

I assume it was published sometime in the 1990's. It was about a female cop trying to catch a serial killer. The killer had a hook of some sort.

Toward the end of the book, the cop went by herself to catch this killer, and he ended up cutting off her hand and slashing her eyes with the hook. I can't remember for sure, but I assume she died. I love scary books and wanted to read this one again, but I can't remember what it was.

Um I know Dennis Lehane wrote a lot of mystery books, A Drink Before the War is a book of his and I know it involves a female detective trying to find a killer. I think it was published in the 90's. Other than that, sorry I don't know.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
