I'm writing a magic-story and it's nothing like Harry Potter the greatest story EVER...?

Really, it would just be about getting permission from the places you named. Written consent is best. If you want to talk about, say, The Vortex in Atlanta (I was just watching Man vs Food and it looks amazing) you would want to call them and say " I want to put a blurb about your restaurant in the book I m writing, is that okay?"

If you re going to talk positively about them, they should say yes. (who doesn t like free publicity) Then, to be safe (always CYA or Cover Your A**) and write to them (in this day and age email is fine) and have an owner respond saying Yes - so just in case they come later and say "hey, we didn t say it was okay" you can prove they did.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
