You can use some of the quad core socket 775 processors. As for the 6870, it will work on that motherboard IF you have a large enough power supply.

Your motherboard is socket 775, the new i7s, i5s and i3s use socket 1155 while the older i7s,i5s and i3s use socket 1366 or 1156 , meaning you're going to have to buy a new motherboard, however your motherboard should support the 6870 :D.
