Is hiring a driver or chauffeur too pretentious? Would you ever consider it?

I do not think it's too pretentious at all, unless you are trying to be pretentious. I would and I have hired a driver when I needed one. I am not too good at driving, so a lot of times I hire a car.

This past Summer, I had an emergency and I needed to be somewhere immediately, so I called a taxi, I had to pay $63.00 plus a tip for a 30 minute ride - that is more than $126.00 per hour. ======================================== To hire a driver or a limousine, (the places I checked) cost $40.00 and up per hour - a ride with a hired driver/chauffeur will give you 3 hours or more of (almost stress free) ride time. A hired driver/car cost a lot less than a taxi and they smell better.

Not at all. In my area, drivers are common household staffs. Besides, if you are a bad driver, it is better to hire someone who can safely drive rather than driving yourself.

Drivers are useful to take children to school, take them home from school, and to various activities while the parents are working. Having a driver can also mean you can share a car. He can drive you to one place and then come back to drive other family members to other place.

If you travel around the city alot as part of your job, especially if the city's traffic is very hectic, it will save your energy a lot. My friend's mother is not a very wealthy woman, but she has to use drivers. She's a sucesful insurance agent and she has to go around town to meet clients.

She'd exhaust herself just from driving around and not getting a work done. By hiring a driver, she can conserve her energy to work on her job.

This alone can be reason enough for a driver. If you can financially afford one then it is safe to assume that the damages caused by a DUI can be negated by having a driver. Also, you do not have to worry about parking for events like ball games or concerts.

Besides, just because you have a driver on staff does not mean you have to use them every time you go somewhere. You still can have that freedom as well.So no I would consider it pretentious and yes I would consider it.

I love to drive! It is a freeing experience. I would prefer to drive myself and my family.

I love driving aimlessly, and just exploring. I couldn't do that with someone else behind the wheel. Unless physical safety was an issue, I would continue to drive myself, regardless of financial stature.

I would hire a driver in a heartbeat, if I were wealthy enough. I would even pay him or her extra do do errands for me like shopping and picking up dry cleaning. When I was young, I loved to drive.

Now, it's just a pain in the ____.

If I lived in a large city I would be glad to pay someone to drive me around! I love to travel by car but would rather be relaxing in the passenger's seat. I guess it could be pretentious if you made a big deal of the fact that you could afford a driver.

People with real class don't flaunt their wealth.

It would feel incredibly pretentious, but if I could afford it, I probably would hire a driver. I do not like driving around the city, because I get so irritated. I also hate looking for parking, and hate parallel parking.

If I could hop in the back of a car, and be dropped off right in front of where I wanted to be, I probably would do it. I don't particularly care for cabs because they often seem dirty and I feel some awkward compulsion to talk to the driver, but if I had my own driver and a town car or something, that is one type of pretentious behavior I could see myself engaging in.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
