Is Islam considered a religion that is sexist towards women?

Islam is a religion of peace that has given a totally new dimension to this world. It has acted as an entity that has raised the status of powerless among which women head the list. Women have been given such much respect and rights in Islam that other religions cannot even think of them.

However, in modern world, Islam is considered sexist towards women. All the regulations Islam has placed on women in terms of parda (veil) and social interaction are actually for their betterment. But have been misused by the enemies of Islam to portray a negative image of Islam and to prove that it is extremist in views towards women.

However, in real terms the case is totally different because Islam is very humble towards women and in every aspect of their lives. All its teachings are purposeful and beneficial.
