Is it a good sign or bad sign if Social Security disability sends you to their own doctors to evaluate your claim?

Standard procedure. They drag the process out as long as they can. There is no fast getting disability. My aunt had a lot of medical issues that eventually left her unable to work.

It took almost two years for here to get her first check, and she was required to go to at least a half dozen doctors, and produce massive amounts of paperwork for months, then was denied and had to get a lawyer and start all over again.

Maybe they want to be sure you deserve to be on disability. Too many fraudulent cases have been uncovered and people thrown in jail for that. I'm glad they are stepping up and making sure.

Additionally....Maybe is nothing against you. Maybe your doctor places too many of his patients on disability and in reality they are checking the doctor.

Oh okay, thanks for the info everyone! Loveybear1988 13 months ago .

They're just there because of past abuses by doctors and their patients. A long time ago, greedy despicable doctors and greedy lazy patients would actually fake ailments and documentation. Then both would get a percentage of the disability.

Dastardly! I tell you. Then your wonderful caring government quickly caught on to this evil scam and decided to hire their own doctors to save us gazillions in fraudulent disability claims.

And life went on! BTW: first time acceptance rate is now about 25% (anybody catch they're, there, their in the 1st sentence - I didn't, until the final proof reading) .

Okay, well that is definitely dispicable that people would actually do that. I mean...really it's awful, but I have about 20 legitimate disabilities..I will post once I receive an answer..One bad apple spoils the barrel loveybear1988 13 months ago .

When I applied, I sent in m y papers from the medical people, had a phone interview and started receiving my disability 5 months after I left my job. Maybe this is because my disability is easy to recognize with my labs, etc. They are usually pretty pro m pt.

Neither. It's the only sign. That's how they work.

I wouldn't worry if your disability is real. There is more emphasis now on preventing fraud. Believe it or not, many people try to beat the system.

O SHOULD I GO with the disability advocate oute because Lord knows with all my disabilities and medical bills I petty much have next to zero income. Does anyone know of any good disability lawyers/advocates that will take on a case pro bono? If not does anyone know what they usually charge?

I am in the Philadelphia area. I guess my next step is ask for a reconsideration...and then appeal my case and go to an administrative law judge. I knew the denial rates are high like 80% for first time applicants but I want to get this process started asap but it makes me so mad and infuriates me that people with true disabilities who really cannot work get screwed because there are jerks out there who like to try to wiggle their way into dooping the government it infuriates me.

They told me with my (high school and 1 year of community college education) I was able to perform other work even though I couldn't go back to my job being an optometric tech. Well I would really love to know what type of work they THINK I can do. Because someone thinks I can do work at the government but everything in my doctors reports and in my conditions says that I cannot.

Ugh! No one will hire someone who can show up for wok sporadically or when their pain is not putting them in the ER that day...it's just ridiculous....any thought guys? Thanks.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
