There is no law on this. So it's up to your contract of employment and if that says monthly, that's what you accepted. Your boss can refuse to go for weekly as this is not going to be regarded as an unreasonable condition of contract, so if you try to fight it through an employment tribunal, you will lose.
Monthly is almost universal in the UK, and it suits people as most regular bills are monthly too. Actually the only law I can think of about this is that you have to be paid in real money, whether that is cash or into your bank. This goes back to the time - YONKS ago - when some companies paid their workers in scrip money that could only be spent at the company shop.
What if that shop charges more for food than you could buy it for somewhere else? "Sorry matey, you're stuck." Clearly that's exploitative and wrong and the Truck Acts banned it.
If you can't manage your money without being paid more frequently, that's your own problem. If you think that's bad, Methodist ministers only get paid every three months (I know because I used to be a circuit treasurer and that involved paying them!).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
