Cold is fine for most things Cold water alone is fine for most things, especially if you have an auto temp washing machine, which adjusts the warmness of the water if cold water alone is way too cold for the soap to dissolve and do its best work. Hot water is best for killing germs, but if you use a clothes dryer on the high heat setting, that'll usually do the trick. Occasionally, I like to add a little bleach to my whites.

Bleach is also good at killing germs, but not good for synthetics. When I have some synthetics I think need a little extra cleaning oomph, I add about 1/4 cup white vinegar to the wash cycle of a large load. Vinegar is an excellent additive, is cheap, easy to get, and freshens up things that you don't want to bleach.

I mostly wash in cold water. My washing machine adjusts the temperature if the cold water is way too cold for the detergent to dissolve. Most newer machines are like that, but if your machine is not and you have bitterly cold winters, maybe some warm water wouldn't hurt in the wash cycle, in which case I'd turn it to hot only, let it do a little filling, add my soap and then switch it to all cold.

I think washing in general wears clothes out. Hot water isn't good for keeping colors bright, they tend to fade more the hotter the water.

Hot for whites, lukewarm for colors, delicate cycle for perishables. Generally, hot water is used for whites because you can use bleaches as well (especially for white sheets). If you use colored towels, hot will fade some of the colors so a lukewarm temperature is best.

Washing perishables like underwear needs milder soap and cool temperatures. You can get into a whole dialogue about soaps; Woolite to prevent shrinkage with cold water, etc. In other words, it all depends on what you are washing, the color and the fabric. One cardinal rule, always wash whites alone--never with any other color.

They'll never be white again.

I use cold for everything I use cold water for all my wash. I do have a HE machine, so maybe that makes the difference, but everything comes out clean and fresh with the cold water - I can't see paying for hot water.

I only use hot water when I wash white clothes like shirts and underwear. I use warm for everything else.

Warm is probably best I'm not sure if hot water damages clothes or not. I wash my sheets and towels in hot water, to rid them of allergens. Everything else gets washed in warm.

Washing in cold is probably an energy-saver too! .

I get pretty consistent hot water out of the shower head, but the tub starts hot and gets cold. What could it be? " "Why does it take more hot water to warm up a bath than cold water to cool it down?" "when bleach water is used as a sanitizer, should it be used in hot water or cold water?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
