Is it normal to have abnormally long and spotty period during first month of taking birth control?

This is to do with the cycling this will cause prolong periods it can cause spotting birth control can cause a real long period and heavy to so if it keeps bothering you I would bring it to your drs attention to see what he or she thinks .
