Is it possible to record TV signals-digital or converted- from a rooftop antenna without some subscription service?

Similar questions: record TV signals digital converted rooftop antenna subscription service.

There are servel options available to allow you to do this. I'll post a link for one option, otherwise all you need to do is search for "Open Source DVR". This page I am posting will tell you about the MythTV Open Source project.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your DVR project. Sources: mythtv.org/detail/mythtv .

There are several options... After June, you will need a digital converter of course. Most VCR's and or DVD recorders have composite input jacks. You can run the white, red & yellow cables from the converter into the VCR or DVD recorder.

Whenever the program you wish to record is on, all you have to do is set the VCR or DVD to the proper "station" (probably input 1 or input 2) and record the program. If you are wanting to watch one program, while recording another you will need two converters and a coaxial splitter to accomplish that. A simpler way to receive and record programs would be through the use of an OTA (Over The Air) DVR, similar to the DTV Pal DVR.

http://www.dtvpal.com/The device costs $250, but it receives digital signals, has dual tuners, and functions just like the DVR box that you'd get with cable or satellite, but without the subscription costs. It's definitely worth looking into, especially if you're in an area that receives OTA signals with little or no difficulty. Sources: http://www.dtvpal.com/ .

2 I think your question asks if if you have to have DirecTV or Dish or cable to pluck HD signals out of the ether with your outdoor antenna. I think that with a proper antenna yes, you can pick up HD signals. But you need some sort of tuner or "converter to interpret the signal.

Some newer models of TV's have an internal HD tuner. To interpret the signal broadcast by Satillite and cable services, you need their equipment and you have to subscribe to their service to get the key to interpreting the signal.

Retirenhapy replied to post #1: 3 Yes, that's what I mean. Right now, I am receiving my signal from a rooftop amplified antenna into my Visio HDTV. I would like to record the programs it provides as HD content or the analog content that comes from my DTV converter box.

I use both types of signal because when the weather is bad the converted signal is more viewable than the unconverted signal. I live in an "electronic void" in that I cannot get cable or high speed internet except by satellite. My current VCR doesn't seem to be able to record/recognize the signal from the converter box.My understanding is that TiVo requires a monthly subscription fee.

Is there a device available for purchase that I can use to record my TV signal without also paying someone a monthly fee? Thanks.

Any without subscription (i.e. Tivo)? " "Use converter box & antenna.

Want to record some shows on DVR w/o subscription. How? Best DVR?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
