Is there a technical reason that they do not make high output (100 watt equivalent) compact fluorescent light bulbs?

I want more light! If I could get high wattage equivalent compact fluorescent bulbs, I could safely change my 3-40 watt fixtures to 225-300 watts. They DO make them... they're a 32 watt CFL lamp. The drawbacks are: they are significantly bigger than a standard bulb, and they produce too much heat to be used in an enclosed fixture. As a general rule, I don't "lamp up" fixtures more than 1 step above the equivalent output wattage, and try to avoid even that much.

If your fixtures are only rated for 40W incandescent, 32W CFLs will cook themselves, and quite possibly the fixture, as well. My recommendation would be to change to a better fixture. TheLightWorks's Recommendations 32w 120v CF Twist 2700K I use them to replace 75W high pressure sodium lamps, as the ballasts burn out..

4 I think the idea is to make you buy more lamps. Keep in mind that a 24-watt CFL bulb is equivalent to a 100-watt incandescent bulb, so 4 fixtures would give you the equivalent of 400-watts! .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
