Is there an ethnic classification /name for the Finno-Hungarian culture? I've read the languages are distantly related?

I've read the languages are distantly related It seems to me that this ethnic group, if it exists, has pretty much assimilated into other groups (e.g. Finns with Scandinavians, Turks with Hungarians). The languages are related, though not mutually intelligible or understandable. There is a distinctive look about them, however, and other cultural similarities.

Enough that distinguishes them from other groups in these areas. But you rarely hear of "Finno-Hungarians" as a distinct group. Turkish with Hungarian would be a logical pairing because both originated in Central Asia. "Hungary" is where settled the Huns who swept in from there. The Turks likewise developed quite the military technology and moved west to conquer the last vestiges of the Roman Empire.

And as the Finns live next door to Sweden and Norway, one should expect their languages to also be similar. But similar appearances between Scandinavian languages and Central Asian languages would, I think, be coincidental.

There are a lot of Swedes in Finland but Finnish is an entirely different language, not remotely Scandinavian in origin. The Finnish language is related to Hungarian. There is also in Sweden and Norway a Finnish minority called the Kven, who have been there for over a thousand years.

A Google Search for images of Hungarians or Hungarian children shows the ethnic group I am talking about. They look mostly European but are slightly more Mongolian in their facial features. These traits are still visible among the Kven of Scandinavia but most of the Finns have pretty much assimilated.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
