Is there any justification to insult a member on grounds of race, religion, colour, gender or sexuality?

NEVER~ Or when they make a comment about being overweight either. Everyone is different and should be treated with respect.

Of course there is. Judging that the group that someone else belongs to are subhumans, for example, is a justfcation. Not one acceptable to civil people -- but, still, to the insulter, a justification..

First of all, I believe that insults are demeaning to both parties; the one being insulted and the one who is doing it. Secondly, the grounds you mention are of generalizations. How could one (at least one who is educated and not a bigot) possibly do that?

No, absolutely, NO! .

It's going to happen, of course, and some will go for the lower option of race, religion, etc. Whether they mean it or it's just a gut reaction is the unknown. Some will lash out without thinking, and some will react in retaliation for a perceived slight towards them, and a small number have no problem mocking whatever they can find, be it race, religion, weight, etc. Of course there is no real justification for it, but seeing as we are dealing with a wide variety of humans with a wide variety of emotional makeups and intellectual abilities it's going to happen. We've come a long way, but people are people.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
