You have an LDS Ward in your area. Please contact them as one resource that might be able to make suggestions for you. Look in the Tempe, AZ phonebook under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and look for an address near you.
I am sure you can find someone supportive. If not, please let me know by contacting me directly at Perspycacious. You will be most likely to reach them on Sunday, and the Salvation Army is another fine resource locally listed.
Unfortunately i'm not from tempe, phoenix area, stayingalivemoma. I hope you find those that are from that area.
I am not in this area but here in NJ, the state has various programs for the rental help. You may be able to contact local county people (it would be the assistance and welfare office), they can usually offer many different resources. Churches often have help for families when it comes to food, holiday dinners (I know people who had received their Thanksgiving dinner through the church), and also they can help with places that offer help with gifts.
I definitely would contact the county to see what programs they have. We also have an organization out here called Norwescap but I am not sure if it is a NJ agency or if it is nationwide.
We have one through the church here where you can buy things for as little as a quarter. Wish I could help you better but I really only know what resources are available out here. These are just ideas to look for.
Our church program here that offers a lot of assistance is called Catholic Charities, see if you have one by you. I wish you the best!
Edit: Here is a link to Arizona's Catholic Charities, I would search the site and even contact them. They are great people here and have helped many people in my area. catholiccharitiesaz.com/ServicesForThos.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
