Is trick-or-treating becoming a less popular tradition?

It sure seems that way. Each year the number of kids I see in the neighborhoods decreases. However, it seems that things like house parties and Halloween carnivals are becoming more popular.

Don't know if it's just because I'm getting older but yes, I believe it is becoming less popular. We didn't get near as many visitors to our house as last year.

I agree 100% with what everyone has said so far. The house parties are becoming more and more popular. (I was invited to 2 of them already this year and know of several on my street alone).

I too, wasn't sure if it was just because I was getting older, or if it really is becoming less popular. Nice to know that it isn't just where I live. It's really unfortunate. As a kid I always looked forward to it.

Sadly yes. I remember back a few years ago when I was trick or treating that we'd have to wait in lines at people's houses to get candy. Then last year when I was handing out candy in the same neighborhood, 2 people showed up the whole night.

Sure its more candy to me but I feel sorry for all the kids missing out on fun evenings. It's been this way since 9/11.

This seems to be regional, which I never knew until we moved. We are from Michigan and Halloween is a *very* big deal. Neighbors go all out, decorating and having parties and eagerly await Halloween night to see the little ones dressed in their costumes. It is very common for parents to go trick-or-treating together, in a group and make a night of festivities (dinner, costumes (kids and adults), drinks perhaps, etc...)We moved to Florida three years ago and hardly anyone participates.

I think so. Parents this day in age are becoming more concerned with child predators because of everything they see on the news and I can't necessarily blame them. The whole Trunk-R-Treat thing and Halloween events seem to be getting more popular.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
