Its my sisters birthday and I want to write her a really touching message! What Should I Write?

HI BILLET! And happy belated/early birthday! Whichever it ends up being when you read this!

:D Oh, gosh. What would *I* get for her? I would get her a pretty tea set.

Or paint her a picture of a fish (or something). Or make something out of clay. Or knit her something!

But I don't know if you can do any of those, so... I would also get her some Miyazaki movies. She hasn't seen Kiki's Delivery Service! And she needs to.

She also needs to see The Princess Diaries, if she hasn't, and I don't think she has. Gvnedgujbonlaea PERFECT MOVIE. Totally serious, buy her Kinky Boots.

Great movie. She would appreciate it, no doubt. That's all I got for movies, though.

I would also get her some books. I know she loves Jane Austen, but I don't know if she's read all of her books. If she hasn't (and I think you'd be the person to know best, right?) I would get one or two for her.

What else what else. You know, a giftcard to a bookseller would be great, too. They seem so impersonal, but they give you total freedom to get whatever you want.

Which is great! Let's see... 18 is a big deal. So you've got to get her some extreme stuff.

Like a quill pen! I think she'd love one of those! I was serious about the tea set, too, you know.

I would also actually get her a journal, and/or a planner. The nice kind. I think she could make some good use out of both.

I hope this helps, Alex! Figuring out what to get people is so hard, sometimes! Almost especially when you're related to said person.

*My* sister is a pain to shop for. We have almost nothing in common when it comes to taste in music and clothes and stuff... but yeah. :) Edit: happy birthday reader!

:D Wow, birthday week! So exciting! --Ah, Howl's Moving Castle is definitely not one of the awful YA books.

It's adorable. It's a cute book you can read on a rainy day. I love it so!

You have to read it! :D Edit2: Another idea, since she's reading all of our suggestions at this very moment, is to just buy her a bunch of random things that she would appreciate (jumprope included, sure!) and package them really inconveniently, so she has no idea what's coming. Or so she thinks it's one thing, but it's really another.

Yay for Eliza! Fun fun fun! :) I actually seriously think you should get her the skipping rope.

Hours of fun, right there. Hmmm. '...and fish and weird crap.' Bahaha!

Well, you could always buy her a HP shirt. One with a big hippogriff on it. I mean, it's unoriginal, but still.

Maybe you could get her something writing-related? You could build her a bar, to store all that alcohol ;) Sorry, this answer was reaaaaally unhelpful. I'll try and come back later with a *proper* answer.

@reader: Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a great day! EDIT: Yeah, Australia is fail at Harry Potter merchandise.

There is just nowhere to get it here. Oh well :).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
