Throne! My friend and I have exactly the same problem. She's got a normal computer with dial-up connection and I've got 2 netbooks with 2 different mobile carriers.
We call up Skype and can only use the chat function, i.e. Typing and even then, very often we just get the little animated circles to the right of our message and nothing happens for minutes! At other times, it works quite well and we can chat at least, but it doesn't happen very often. No way we can use the phone call function of Skype, my netbooks simply don't have the technical specs to do so, although I've got a webcam and microphone built in.
So in an ideal world it would work, but reality is that it simply doesn't, because everything is too slow. We are now using Google Talk where we can chat and upload pictures and share files at lightning speed. That's fun!
Just goes to show: The programmers have to make faster code, the manufacturers of computers of any sort have to speed these computers up and the mobile and other carriers have to get their act together, at least here in Spain! My friend and I are both working as Virtual Assistants and know exactly what cloud computing is as this is our means of work with our clients, but technology is lagging behind. I do so hope that the Nexus S with it's really useful keyboard will be available soon in Spain, so we can work better, faster and more efficient!
Hope this helps!

Throne I found a solution on a skype forum where everyone with a netbook is complaining about the same thing. Uninstall your current version of skype (it's probably 5. X).
Go to oldapps.com/skype.php?old_skype=75#download Download an older version of skype. I installed 3.8. So far so good. Let me know how it works out.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
