Confusingly, Calendar months count from 0 (January) to 11 (December), so you're passing "2010-01-09" to formatter.parse() when you extract the MONTH field from the Calendar.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
