Letting my 13 year old son fly alone... PARENTS, PLEASE HELP!?

1. Security itself takes maybe 5 minutes... it's the waiting in line at security that will take the most time, and waiting time always varies. I always get to the airport around 2 hours early.

That gives me plenty of time to check in, go through security, and find my gate without being rushed. 2. Security is really not that bad.

There will be a conveyor belt scanner for your things and a walk through scanner for you. There are plastic tubs that you will put your carry on, personal item, and shoes in, and then you send them through. Walk through the other scanner yourself, and on the other side you grab your things and that's it.

You can use your cell phone if it's in airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off the part of the phone that connects it to signal towers, so you won't be able to call, text, or go on the internet, but you can use apps that don't require that. You probably wouldn't have service that high up anyway.

7. You will be assigned seats. You may have been assigned seats when you bought your tickets, or they will give them to you when you check in.

Your mom can take you up to the security point, and your friends can meet you outside of security at the airport. It's easy to find people once you land though--arrival areas are separated by airline so you just meet them at the arrival place of whatever airline you're flying with. 9.

Only bring on the plane what you REALLY need--less is better when you're traveling. I always bring my phone, laptop, and camera (and their chargers), a blanket (I get cold easily, but if you don't it's not necessary), a book or two, my wallet (I leave my purse in checked luggage--if you're carrying around two bags it's easy to lose one of them), and an EMPTY water bottle (fill it up once you're past security, if it's filled before they'll dump it.) As for what you're not allowed to bring aboard? Any type of liquid that's over 3 oz, or anything that could possibly be used as a weapon (razors, for example.) 10.

Going through security is pretty easy what you have to do is put your hand luggage on a conveyer belt where it will go through an X-ray scan you will also get a tray where you will put your shoes and any liquids ( liquids must be under 100ml and in a clear ziploc bag) and anything metal than you will walk through a metal detector in some airports you may have to get a pat down as well. 3. When you are connecting flights the airport employees will transfer your luggage to your other flight unless your switching terminals than you will have to claim your baggage 4.

It depends on the airport in most you will have to go through security check 5. An hour is more than enough time since both your flights are domestic the gates shouldn't be to far from each other 6. For landing and takeoff your phone most be off once you have reached crusing altitude you can turn it on in airplane mode you will not be able to make any calls since you can't get the signal from the plane and airplane mode will turn off any signals a phone emits since it can interfere with the planes computers but you can listen to music or play a game.

This depends on if your parents have chosen to label you a unaccompanied minor( the status of unaccompanied minor is usually optional after 12 and if the parents feel so is available till age 16 for a fee) after the age of 12 you can travel as an adult on most airlines if your an unaccompanied minor your parents can come to the secure area and see you off at the gate and your friends can also pick up at your arriving airport 9.

U should bring a sweater or jacket since planes can get cold and also bring a snack since most airlines charge for food on domestic routes 10. If your considered an unaccompanied minor a airport employee will help you board the plane if your an adult you will board the plane just like everyone else 11. Just remember to relax and have fun also for a domestic flight they say come to the airport an hour before I'd recommend to come about 2 hrs before to have plenty of time to relax also wear your hair up so it doesn't get in your face wear comfortable clothes and easy to remove shoes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
