I would stick with a black backsplash. You do not want too many distracting colors in the room. You have black counters, white cabinets and wood floors that are probably a shade of brown.

I am not a decorator but I think I would go with black to carry on with the countertop color.

You have white and black with wood floors. I would bring in color with the accessories. Stainless would look good, also a few red items around the kitchen would liven up the black and white.

I think you need some color and texture. Look at 1x1 mosaic tiles at your tile shop or even home depot. You can get a neutral color, but will add "life" to your kitchen.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
