I'm not sure about the cooking class part, but Picchetti Winery is one local place that has wine tastings. It's also located next to an open space preserve that has nice hiking trails. http://picchettiwinery.stores.yahoo.

NetThere's also Ridge Vineyards, which is a more substantial (and higher end) winery:ridgewine.com/visiting_wineries/index.tm... a more Silicon Valley oriented experience, there's also the Tech Museum in San Jose and the Computer story Museum in Mountain View.Net.

Why not take them down to visit the garlic Shops in Gilroy, I was going to recommend taking them to Lous Village for dinner, but they are closed til 2012 :-( Best lobster and Cioppino I've EVER had. Oh well . Winchester Mystery House would be interesting San Jose Municipal Rose Garden .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
