Military or Civilian route to becoming a major airline pilot?

You certainly have a lot of great questions! Lots of twists and turns can happen, so be prepared. I have a cousin who joined the army, then learned to fly helicopters, then planes.

He left the army and went to work for a major airline as a pilot. He did that for a number of years. The economy took a turn, that resulted with that airlines going bankrupt.

His other co-workers, those who were in the 50's and above were fired, to save money. My cousin took a leave of absence, was offered a job as a pilot flying for an Asian airline, which meant he relocated. He did that for 3 years.

After 3 years, he ended applying for a job in a pilot in Saudia Arabia. He is now a private pilot to a prince (one of many) there. The pay is 13.5K month (tax free) food and living expenses are included and he and co-pilot live on a compound, He may fly for 3 weeks then have 1-3 weeks off.

In sum, there are many rewards to becoming a pilot. Just be damn good at what you do! So how do you become one?

The following sites will give you much information. Also, go the airport and interview different pilots about their jobs. Good luck to you!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
