Chalk/ Limestone/Marble is impure Calcium Carbonate. A) . Hydrochloric acid + calcium carbonate = calcium chloride + water + carbon dioxide (the burp!) 2HCl + CaCO3 = CaCl2 + H2O + CO2 This equation is chemically balanced!

B) Next calculate the moles of HCl used mol(HCl) = 1M X 30 mL / 1000 mol(HCl) = 0.03 moles ( This is equivalent to '2' in the Balanced eq'n). Mol(CaCO3) = 0.03 / 2 = 0.015 moles (This is equivalent to '1' in the Balanced eq'n). Next calculate the Relative Molecular Mass (Mr) of Calcium Carbonate Ca X 1 = 40 X 1 = 40 C x 1 = 12 X 1 = 12 O x 3 = 16 X 3 = 48 40 + 12 + 48 = 100 (Mr (CaCO3)) Next calculate mass CaCO3 (pure ) actually use in the stomach ).

Moles = mass /Mr mass = moles X Mr mass = 0.015 X 100 = 1.5 g (CaCO3) c) percentage impurity 1.5 X 100 / 5.00 = 30% NB 1. The chemical formula for hydrochloric acid is NOT 'HCL' but 'HCl' The letter 'l' is small case - very important in chemical formulae. If an element has a one letter symbol it is ALWAYS a capital letter.

If an element has a two letter symbol it is ALWAYS ,first letter is Capital letter amd the second letter is small case.

CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O (b) Supposing none of the impurities react with HCl: (0.030 L) x (1 mol/L HCl) x (1 mol CaCO2 / 2 mol HCl) = 0.015 mol CaCO3 (c) (0.015 mol CaCO3) x (40 + 12 + 3 x 16) g/mol / 5 g = 0.3 = 30% CaCO3 The calcium carbonate came from the chalk, because pure chalk IS calcium carbonate.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
