Music Lovers: What were the first recordings you picked out for yourself? Do you still like them?

My first 3 were: "Bad Company" (Bad Company), "Master Of Reality" (Black Sabbath), and "'All American Boy" (Rick Derringer), and the Black Sabbath is the only one to stand the test of time.... The Beatles Meet the Beatles, and o yes I still love The Beatles,my biggest thrill was getting to see Paul McCartney in person few years ago. Even now I still pick up Beatles items marsvenk's Recommendations Meet The Beatles Used from: $45.00 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 3 reviews) Video .

I still have my first albums. My first album was a recording of Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre. I heard it at school and thought it was really cool so I talked my parents into taking me to a record store for it.

I told them I wanted it to be mine. This was in fifth grade. I still really like it.

Years later I got my next ones. Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run. I still love this album.

I got a couple of Beatles albums that my parents didn’t have --Sgt. Pepper’s and Revolver-- and a couple of albums by Weather Report which I like but I’m not often in the mood for. I only fished them out recently when someone mentioned Jaco Pastorius.

Now who could that have been? :^> I still like them all, but I have a lot more to choose from these days, too. Cheers!

I ever bought for myself was the original Jesus Christ Superstar recording. It was pretty provocative back in the late 60's/early 70's (not sure of the date) because it told the story of the suffering of Jesus irreverently and (gasp!) in a Rock Opera. I still think it's a pretty revolutionary recording in musical theater and is still performed to this day.

It has stood the test of time. The second one I bought was The Partridge Family Album. Stand the test of time?

Notsomuch. But still, it has some great studio musicians of the day on it (the kids really didn't play the instruments) and David Cassidy did a pretty good job with the bubblegum pop on that record. BalthasarII, I might be a little older than you, because later on, I moved on to Bad Company, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC and UFO.

I remember... The first music I bought for myself was from a second hand store called St. Vincents. It was used and had some scratches. I also got a couple from yard sales.

I believe the records were something like a nickle each. Anyway, some of my earliest record artist were; The Ink Spots, The Mills Brothers, The Shirrells, The Platters, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis. I still like most of them.

I no longer have any music by the Mills Brothers but I still have some from the others. Once and a while we get the record player out and listen to the oldies. I didn't have much money when I was young (come to think of it, I don't have much now) so we listened to most of our music on transistor radios.

You could buy one for a couple of bucks. The music had a tinny sound and all you could get was AM music. Some had a single ear plug for quiet listening.

A few years later, most had AM/FM. The real classy ones had a leather case or pocket that you could hook on your belt. I remember most songs lasted just over two minutes. It seemed like most songs from the 50s were remade in the 60s.

Johnny Rivers made a career on mostly other people's music. Music started to change in the 70s.By the 80s music had little in common with the 50s or 60s style. Other than for Christian music, I still prefer the music 50s, 60s, 70s...

Let's see if you can detect a theme.... My selections are below....as you can see, it was the mid-70’s and I was a big Barry Manilow fan. Two years ago for my birthday, my daughter got me a Barry Manilow compilation on CD. Even though I haven’t listened to them in ages, when I heard the songs I surprised myself by being able to remember each and every word, note, cadence, etc.I guess that comes from playing them overandoverandoverandoverandover again when I was young.

Note: The first album I ever owned, however, was Elton John’s Greatest My sister bought it for me for Christmas. How do you explain yourself to rap music lovers?" "I am looking for recordings of Hungarian popular music. Is there a way to find it in North America?" "This is for the serious music lovers on AV! What song or songs gives you eargasms?" "What does music do for you?

" "i can't get the music......

Music recordings for children that don't drive adults crazy.

I am looking for recordings of Hungarian popular music. Is there a way to find it in North America?

This is for the serious music lovers on AV! What song or songs gives you eargasms?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
