Your cpu is really old. It was released early 2010, meaning its almost 6 years old now. And even when it was released, it was more of a mid range cpu, as the athlons didn't have any L3 cache, where as the phenom II line did, and that actually makes a huge difference in performance.
So your cpu is definitely holding you back. 4GB of ram is lower by todays standards for gaming. Modern games often use 2.5-3.5GB of ram themselves.
And windows generally required around 800MB-1.25GB of ram while running. Meaning if playing a more modern or demanding games, you literally cant have anything running in background. And the adobe suite loves ram.
4GB is pretty low for such things. Your graphic card is a pretty low end card. If you are playing at 1920x1080, any modern games will not run well even on lowest settings.
You will likely have to lower resolution. WoW can probably be played just fine on like medium-high-ish settings.
What you need to do is TEST to see what is slowing it down, don't just go with somebody's guess. Find out what is slowing it down. Is the hard drive spinning?
Is another program running? Are you maxing out something? Start with your GPU.
A program like GPU-Z will show you how you are using your GPU. Run GPU-Z, then run your game. When it slows down press alt-tab to see if your GPU usage is maxing out.
Mostly watch the GPU Load and Memory Used. Task Manager will show you what programs are running, and how much memory you are using. Run task manager, run your game, then when things lag press alt-tab to see what might be slowing you down.
Second I would test your RAM usage, there is a chance that is what's slowing you down, if it gets even close to 4 GB you need more. I usually hit around 5 GB of RAM usage when running games. If the hard drive is spinning when your computer slows down, and you're sure you have enough RAM then you can either try to stop whatever program is running (like turning off indexing) or you can try upgrading to an SSD.
Finally, your CPU should be fine for most games, but it could be the culprit too. It's just harder to test CPU usage because games only use a certain number of cores, and you have to know how many to test it well. I really should write a blog post on this... less typing.
:).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
