My PS3(playstation 3) doesn't reads any kind of discs (PS1 PS2 PS3 games, Blurays, DVDs), can anybody help me?

I was playing GTA IV one night and turned my system off(without taking the game out), the next day I turned it on again, then a demo finished downloading so I installed it, then I started it but the demo never started, the screen just went black, after some seconds I tried to get my GTA IV out but the blue light just started blinking for minutes, so I tried to just turn it off but the button didn't worked, so I had to turn it off manually from the button on the back of the system, it did turned off, so I turned it back on so I finally played the demo and after some hours I put GTA IV to play it again but the icon didn't appeared on the XMB(menu) I thought there was something bad with the disc so I tried playing Little Big Planet but it also didn't appeared then I tried some other games and a DVD but it just didn't worked, it's been so long since then and I really want my games back...sniff :'( Asked by burbin 23 months ago Similar questions: PS3 playstation reads kind discs PS1 PS2 games Blurays DVDs help Consumer Electronics > Video Games.

Similar questions with PS3, playstation, reads, kind, discs, PS1, PS2, games, Blurays, DVDs, help Sony stated that every PlayStation and PlayStation 2 game that observes its respective system's TRC (Technical Requirements Checklist) would be playable on PS3 at launch. SCE president Ken Kutaragi asked developers to adhere to the TRC to facilitate compatibility with future PlayStations, stating that the company was having some difficulty getting backward compatibility with games that had not followed the TRCs. Initial NTSC PS3 units include (see circuit board image) the CPU/rasterizer combination chip used in the slim PS2 (EE+GS) to achieve backward compatibility.

The backward compatibility function is region-locked. Initially, at launch, approximately 3% of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 titles had minor compatibility issues, including poor audio, system freezes or controller malfunctions. Popular games reported to have these glitches included Tekken 5 and Gran Turismo 4. Many games had also been reported to have problems with garbled or unreadable text on-screen and generally blurry image quality, but the January 24, 2007 software release, which updated the system to version 1.50, has fully resolved this issue.

All that said, as recently as November there were a few that still had problems. That January software update should have fixed them, but be careful with these games: Sources: http://askville.amazon.com/SimilarQuestions.do?req=PS3-playstation-reads-kind-discs-PS1-PS2-games-Blurays-DVDs-help .

Ps3 doesn't recognize any kind of disk Either one of two things- Due to long term inactivity (2-3 months) Too much dust accumulated and is residing on lens making it impossible to read discs hence the playstation understands a disc is there but nothing pops up. Or Sony being the clever minded company that they are helped my playstations lens or reader conveniently break right after my 1 year warranty ends. Hence creating a more consumerist friendly atmosphere making me or other people as well feel free to buy into their 150$ fix-it or just buy a new playstation 3.

Solution: within next week I will be trying out a relatively new product called "maxell blue ray lens cleaner" recommended for all blue-rays and for playstation 3 & XboX. Hopefully this will work to solve the possible "dust" issue since I would consider my living space a high dust area. This is a big gamble but is made smaller by the fact that the cleaner discs only cost 10-15 dollars.

And im more willing to try this method before mac'in down 150+ dollars to "fix" the problem. Read more here: fixya.com/support/t385784-ps3_doesnt_rec... Sources: fixya.com/support/t385784-ps3_doesnt_rec... .

Re: Fixed my PS3 ((blu ray related)) Go back lol Seriously if you have a 60GB model you and I both have the same exact system. KES-400AAA is the laser you want. Videogameaction showed they had a few left in stock the other day.

The cost is around 60.00 and my laser I bought from them still works fine! Keep us posted justinmisti wrote: tried your suggestion(unplugging power cable letting sit for 15 mins. ).

Still not able to access the boot menu. You just hold your finger over the power/standby button 2 beeps ;3 beeeps. Ive done it prior to the mishapp.Ie 2.76.

My suspision is that its not the diode or lens'but maybe something else that acctuates the disk loading process. It doesn't spin. The disk that is.

It'll load into the slot, just no clicking (loading)or spinning (spooling).? blue ray drive motor? As suggested by dirtyofriesThe laser module controls this process. Its been discussed in this thread before.

Basically, when the laser dies, it no longer sends read commands to the daughter board which in turn relays data to the Cell processor etc.So the process stalls, your discs don't spin and you get the disc icon on the top right hand corner of your screen in the XMB whenever you have media in the drive. PS3(playstation 3) doesn't reads any kind of discs (PS1 PS2 PS3 games, Blurays, DVDs.. There's general agreement that Sony stumbled out of the gate with the PlayStation 3. Months of intense hype were followed by a late launch (fully a year after the Xbox 360) and a staggering $600 price tag for the deluxe model. Even worse, the PS3 didn't have any real must-have exclusive titles, and despite the power of its vaunted Cell processor, multiplatform games from third-party developers didn't look appreciably better than the respective titles on the 360.

Since then, the company's been modifying the PlayStation product line to better fit the competitive market landscape. As of November 2007, a "bargain" PlayStation 3 can be had for a mere $400--but that model lacks the ability to play older PS2 games. If that feature is important to you, you'll need to shell out an additional $100 for the "deluxe" 80GB PlayStation 3 model--or if you're lucky enough to find a 60GB version, the one reviewed here, we'd highly recommend jumping on that as well.

While the 60GB version of the PlayStation 3 is currently being phased out of production by Sony, the differences between it and the 80GB model are minimal. Owners of PS2 games may prefer the 60GB model because of its greater compatibility with that system's games due to its internal hardware emulation instead of the 80GB's software emulation. In addition to backward compatibility with many PS2 games, the $500 PS3s include more USB ports and a built-in flash media reader.

Unfortunately however, the 60GB version still suffers from the same problem currently afflicting this entire generation of PlayStation hardware: a dearth of compelling games. While the console offers a handful of great exclusives (Warhawk, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Heavenly Sword), it doesn't look like the PS3 will have some real system-sellers until 2008 and beyond, when Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, and God of War III eventually arrive. Plenty of excellent third-party titles exist--from Assassin's Creed to Call of Duty 4--but they're also available on the Xbox 360, which in turn has a cadre of must-have titles (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War) that aren't on the PS3.

Likewise, the Nintendo Wii continues to draw away potential PS3 buyers with its cheaper hardware and more casual and broad-based approach to gaming. Put another way, the PlayStation 3 still feels more like a work in progress than do the rival Wii and Xbox 360. Still, if you want to go beyond the low-res graphics on the Wii and avoid the Xbox 360's notorious red ring of death, the Sony PS3 delivers a full-on Blu-ray player, network media hub, and HD gaming console with a rapidly growing library of impressive titles.

DesignLike the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation 3 can stand vertically or lie horizontally in an AV rack, though because of its curved top, it's not meant to have any other components resting on top of it. Early prototypes were shown in white and silver, but the PS3 is currently available only in black. The 20GB version (now discontinued) was all black, but the larger capacity models are highlighted with a chrome trim--and there's no way to customize its look as you can with Xbox 360's interchangeable, if overpriced, faceplates.

Judging from Sony's recent decision to bring out the PSP in more colors, we don't expect the company to stick to the black-only option for too long, especially since this system, like the PSP, is a fingerprint- and smudge-magnet. If you handle it at all, you'll end up having to wipe it off, so you'll probably just want to stick it in a rack and leave it there.
