I can't get the Sat remote to do all the work without the help of the TV remote. Tv is a Toshiba, Dish network is the Service I have. I just have them side by side and turn on with one and control with the other. I guess I am used to it now.

I think if you call the company they can give you codes to enter into the remote control unit that will allow it to control the television set.

Either that or get an online manual for the remote control unit. They usually confuse me.

The Satellite remote needs to be 'set up' for the type and model TV in order to sync the on/off, volume. The person who set up the Dish network should have done that. If the TV was purchased after the Dish, they may do it for you, or simply explain the procedure.

It is possible that the instruction manuals that came with the Dish will contain the steps to sync the remote.

Got the TV last Friday may be the clue. If the TV is not on the list, you will have to go to the Dish people. I have Dish, and they have always been helpful and pleasant.

Call the help line, with the TV make and model. Also possible that the number code hasn't been determined yet, but Dish is the best source.
