Now that the President has a second chance with the healthcare bill passed, which area should he address next?

I vote jobs myself as what we most need and if it takes another big stimulus bill, I say do it. At least, we the people will be more directly concerned than with Wall Street and big bank bail-outs. They got theirs (ours, actually)...please pass the platter this way, Mr. President!

1 Well, let's see:The government now owns GM and has taken the first steps towards taking over the entire health care industry. I guess next on the hit parade would be either energy, agriculture, or technology (all under the banner of creating jobs, of course).

Dougiedoggone replied to post #1: 2 I think another stimulus bill for creating jobs is needed before anything else. People are hurting, YoBob, and if gov't. Stimulus is needed so be it.

The banks and investment firms got bailed out...how 'bout the people now? Your fears of the gov't. Takeover are slightly exaggerated.

The gov't. Has taken control of banks in the past on a temporary basis. They are getting set to divest themselves of GM stock sometime this quarter.

We are not a socialist economy or gov't.

3 I agree. We need to focus on creating jobs to get people back on their feet.

4 Actually, in spite of my flippant remarks, I agree with both of you (as with most Americans) that job creation should be a very high priority. Where I suspect we differ is the methodology to make that happen. I believe the way to create jobs is to quit overtaxing and regulating small to mid-sized business so they can use that money to grow their business in, in the process, create jobs.

OTOH, in general it appears to me that the more left leaning seem to think that the only way to do such things is to have bit daddy government take care of it for us through gigantic government programs that we feed with huge piles of tax dollars.

Dougiedoggone replied to post #4: 5 Well, personally, as a residential contractor, such things as bridge and highway construction jobs don't impact me directly. Indirectly, yes! Tax incentives for homebuyers, tax incentives for small business, and tax incentives for energy star improvements all help directly.

Cash for clunkers? Only minimally at best. How about putting some people back to work through large scale public projects?

I do not trust our gov't. To handle long term improvement projects without graft and corruption, sadly. Gov't.

Backed loans for nuclear power plants? Yes? Gov't.

Incentives for private oil drilling? Yes, but with great care and no blank checks EVER! Extension of unemployment benefits...ok, we let the auto companies have more, right?

How about tax benefits for international corps. To bring back some much needed mfg,. And service jobs?

Are we working on this? All of these areas are good areas for job creation and there are many more not listed. How 'bout it?

What other services are like bill me later.

Is it true that in President Obama's healthcare bill in the year 2013 all real estate transactions will be taxed 3.8%.

Will a bill be sent to my billing address if delivery address is different.

Former pianist for Bill Gaither....passed away.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
