Avoid doing manual tasks after surgery until they feel comfortable. You need to slowly build up using your hand. About three in 100 of us suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome: pain, tingling or numbness in the hand, which can often cause sleepless nights.

Exercises, medication and sometimes a splint can help reduce the discomfort, but often surgery is the only option. Surgery can cure night symptoms and transient tingling, but if the nerve has been damaged as a result of carpal tunnel syndrome it probably won’t fully recover. Although this is a commonly performed operation and the majority of patients do well, complications, for example complex regional pain syndrome or what we call CRPS, can occur, which permanently affect hand function.

I would strongly suggest that avoid doing manual tasks after surgery until they feel comfortable. You need to slowly build up using your hand. There is nothing to worry about for not making a fist yet, eventually it will slowly be cured and the scar can be very tender for a few months. It's important to massage it with some simple skin cream to help desensitize it.

Sources: It's my own opinion.

Sometimes it takes longer I had my carpal tunnel on my right hand done last May 3rd and my left one done the year before that. My surgeon says it is normal to take at least 6 months for complete healing. Of course there is never a guarantee.

I have met several people who had this surgery done only to have the pain come back years later. My left wrist is pretty good, I only have a 25% loss of motion. But because we "waited" too long on my right wrist...I have a permanant 50% loss in that hand, severe nerve damage.

I mean the pain is better, but my hand seems to have a mind of its own. Now its only been 2 months for you...if you have REAL concerns talk to your surgeon. I found out that since they aren't miracle workers...I just have to deal with "cards" handed to me.

And at least its better. BTW.....it took me almost 7 months to make a painfree fist.

Carpal tunnel maybe due to low thyroid hormone and not need surgery. Vit B6 helps with water build up in the body and may help. Zinc helps people heal faster.Cat's claw lowers inflammation.

I hope it heals fast for you.

Proper way to bandage my recent carpal tunnel surgery scar.

I have nagging pain in wrist and hand...can it be a pinched nerve..don't think carpal tunnel.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
