Your question is incorrect on several levels. First, no one knows if there is a god creator of the universe or not. Atheism is a position of non-belief.
You are actually referring to Anti-theists who assert that there is no God. The God hypothesis has failed for 2000 years. It is a failed hypothesis.
As such it can be logically rejected. At the same time lack of evidence is not lack of existence. What we can say; however, is that it takes only a small leap of logic to make the assertion that without evidence it is extremely unlikely anything called god exists.
You can not imagine a god into existence. You might as well assert that Santa created the universe. The arguments are exactly the same.
That's why we have so many gods in history. They all use the same justifications. They are all equally false.
They are all equally non-existent. What we can say about the universe is that we do not actually know. Asserting a God done it, does not help.
We do know that physical particles randomly appear in vacuums or in the emptiness of space all the time. Something comes from nothing all the time. But nothing has changed.
We no longer know what nothing is. The nothing of space is actually something. It's not empty.
It is an ocean of something. But what is outside of it? What is outside of the universe?
Well that may be something as well. According to what I have read the universe acts like a giant swamp of mud. It slows down energy and changes it into mass.
Einstein proved Energy and mass are the same thing; in case you are not following. Where do random particles that appear in our universe come from? Outside the universe?
So something is also outside out universe? Other dimensions? We just don't know.
Calling it God and pretending we know does nothing at all to move the inquiry forward. If a god is ever discovered, it will be discovered by an atheist.
