This tried and true way always worked for me. I get a flashlight to see down into the disposal. Then with some type of tool I will work to loosen up the object without damaging the disposal.

Sometimes I will have to try different tools and they ranged from the handle of a wood spoon to more sturdy screw drivers. When the object is loose, you will need something like pliars to bring the pieces up to the surface. I have used pliars, but also any similar gripping tool, such as a kitchen tool that works the same, will be OK.

Even your fingers help once the object is near the surface. Afterwards you may have to reset the disposal by pushing a button on the bottom. You also might need to hand rotate the disposal blades.To do this, you will need a key that came with the disposal.

It fits in the disposal bottom and lets you turn the blades a few times to loosen it up. Finally, turn on the water and hit the switch to start. YEAH!

Been there! When my wife dropped a shot glass in the garbage disposal and then, a short time later, turned it on I learned firsthand how to get something out that you can't reach in and remove. Typically there's a wrench that comes with the disposal that fits in the flange that locks it into the sink drain.

That would be your tool of choice. Absent of that, a good screwdriver will work just fine. Stick the tool into the flange and turn the flange in an unscrewing fashion.

Depending on how long the disposal has been in there, depends on the muscle it's gonna take to get it undone. That's why I said a "good" screwdriver. Once the unit is down, you can take your time in cleaning it out just be very careful- especially if it's a rather new blade.At this point, check the seal that goes between the disposal and the sink flange to see if it's dried or cracked.

If so, it needs replacing (something you could have on hand to replace anyway that way there's less downtime and no running out to the store which probably won't have what you want anyway). Then, when you're satisfied it spins easily, put it back in the same way you took it out; making sure it's fully locked into place. Run the water and admire your work.

When you're all done, you'll feel like you can go take that test for a plumbers license.

Find the curled edges at the top of the disposal. Put the blade of the screw driver against the side of one of these on the left side, and pound the screwdriver with the hammer to loosen the ring. It should turn counter clockwise as you look at it from below.

Support the disposal as you turn the ring until it comes loose. That is the hard part. Now you should be able to evaluate whether you can free the blades, or need a new disposal.

Not too hard Should be easy enough. Get some needle nose pliers, grab that bone and twist it... You should be able to work it out pretty easily. Don't worry about forcing it.

The steel disposal is stronger than the bone. Once you work it out, there should be a little red reset button on the bottom of the disposal unit. Push that and you should be back up and running.

Honestly, there is not much too it. If you don't have a needle nose pliers, you can use a wooden stick, such as a broom handle or even better, the wooden handle of a toilet plunger. The key is to twist the bone in the opposite way that the disposal spins.

Sure you can... depending upon where it is lodged make certain the power is off, reach down in there and remove the bone. There is also a hole on the bottom that accepts an allen wrench (3/16 I think, supplied with most garbage disposals) that you can turn either way to loosen the obstruction. You can also take off the exit tube, usually held in place by two screws and see what's going on from that angle (hint, remove everything from under the sink, and have a towle or bucket down there to catch some really nasty ooze)..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
