So...after some work and lots and lots and, well lots of trial and error and much reference to the jQuery docs and other SO questions to get a feel for what's going on here, I hacked together a particularly dirty means of accessing the sibling placeholder div $(document). Click(function() { var videoID = $(this).parent(). Find("object"). Attr("id"); $(this).parent().
Children("div . Placeholder"). ReplaceWith(""); }); }); Thoughts of Sacrament x There is no purpose to this text, it's just here in order to provide a frame of visual reference while I work upon the code behind this here 'page,' still: I hope you enjoy, uh...looking.

I don't know why that seemed like a good idea, but it did. Sadly it doesn't work and I have no idea why. I have...a hunch it might be to do with the jQuery live event/function/thing (I'm really new to jQuery), but I don't see how to connect everything together, yet.
I'm going to leave the question open a while longer, since I suspect there are lots of better answers applicable to the question I raised. There's almost have to be, really. Just for completion's sake, as this is a development of an earlier question I'll post the entire code from the html file below, so's anyone coming in can see what I've done and hopefully have an idea of why, if not a better understanding of my decision-process.

I've reviewed both your posts here and being new to jQuery myself to, I don't want to waste hours messing around with it to only get half a solution. Essentially, I am trying to accomplish the same thing. I have an image that needs to be replaced by an embedded video using some sort of expansion/animation.
Seems like a simple thing to do, but I have not been able to find a quick, clean solution on the web anywhere either. If you have found anything or tweaked your code to perfection yet, let me know. Thanks!
I haven't, I'm afraid; I keep finding the edges of the solution, and then losing it again. I'll see if I can find the half-solution that I've got so far, and post that (and a link to the demo) for you, and see if that helps you at all. – David Thomas Sep 29 '09 at 16:49 @Brendon, thanks for your interest, and please see the update for the current situation.

If the video's been played or not (and will remove the picture if it's there). The replacement image in. Var videoID = $(this).
ReplaceWith("", function() {$(this).parent().children(). Var videoID = $(this).parent(). ReplaceWith("There is no purpose to this text, it's just here in order to provide a frame of visual reference while I work upon the code behind this here 'page,' still: I hope you enjoy, uh...looking.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
