Yeah, major disappointment. The WWE has put on some pretty spectacular shows in the past, especially their "milestone" shows. They've managed to tweak old ideas from the past enough to make them seem "new" which often has made a routine PPV into something special.
They've genuinely surprised us with things (and people) we didn't expect and didn't see coming. They did set the bar high and often managed to top themselves. But it seems as if the well has run dry and Vince's bag of tricks has gone empty.
It wasn't just tonight's episode of RAW. The WWE in general has been sub-standard and stuck in a rut for the past year or so. The TV shows are repetitious, routine, and safe.
The PPVs are not as exciting as they once were. Things are just...predictable and safe. We've come to expect big things from the WWE on PPVs and "milestone" shows, but the WWE just ain't delivering the goods anymore.
For me personally, watching TNA and AAA where things are entertaining, unpredictable, fun to watch, and something cool is always happening, the WWE is...just boring these days. They keep doing the same things over and over, week in and week out. They come up with intriguing ideas (like Nexus and the "anonymous GM") then fail to follow through.
Nexus is just a bunch of thugs gang-attacking single wrestlers and it's been that way for months. The "anonymous GM" is just a crutch to "make matches on the fly" without having to pay somebody to play GM. Hell, as much as I can't stand Michael Cole I'd rather it turn out that HE is the "anonymous GM" rather than the continuous and annoying "emails" be the GM.
Playing with the light switch doesn't disguise the fact that, yet again, Nexus surrounded the ring and gang-attacked yet another single wrestler. Who that single wrestler was doesn't matter anymore. It could have been Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, or Bruno Sammartino, doesn't matter.
It's still the same thing week after week after week. The WWE has shoveled down our throats the fact that Nexus can do that. Alright, we get it!
Now do something different! Tell us WHY Nexus is doing this! Every single match on the show was throw-away.
Most were blink-and-you-missed-it short, and none of them meant anything at all. Edge and Jericho bailed on Cena...yet again. They keep doing that; why do they keep putting them in tag matches with Cena?
They're not able to come up with a "punch line" for this angle and don't know how to get out of it? The ONLY thing the WWE accomplished with tonight's episode was to show that Wade Barrett MIGHT BE a serious contender for the WWE Title. But a 2.5 second "match" with Orton kept it "might be".
Next week needs to have a singles match between Barrett and Orton or tonight's "match" was just a fluke and means nothing. There were many things wrong with tonight's show (and you point out most of them) but that has been the norm for quite a while. The conclusion (to me) is we are expecting too much from a WWE that has run out of steam, run out of ideas, run out of "magic".
I thought it was terrible. I at least expected one f***ing person from the attitude era, besides Bret Hart an Undertaker. The highlight was definitely the triple tag team match.
What you said was right on the circle. I mean, really, Bret Hart, Kane, Lights gone, Nexus, lights out AGAIN, then the wasteland. And that diva match was terrible.
Why did they release Mickie James?! And ANOTHER Unified championship=( The tag team is one thing. And isn't it stupid that they broke The woman's championship.
And my nexust point. See What I did their. The Main Event?
It W#as ****. I mean I think I no y they walked out they wanted them hurt for night of champions which I have to say I would have done too.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
