I have wondered about that. But since buying a Honda will be a big deal for my budget - I do not expect to ever say either. I guess I could call one "the J car." .

Well, the Mayans pronounced it something like "jawara". Since they invented the word, everybody else is botching it. The American pronunciation is slightly closer, but etymology isn't really a good guide to "proper" pronunciation.

The language evolves over time, and insistence on original pronunciations from other languages will render you incomprehensible. When in England, it has three syllables. When in America, it has two.

When in South America, it also has two syllables, but they're "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH-crunch".

I'll never own one, but in case I ever do, it would be nice to know the 'proper' way to pronounce it. ElBanditoRoso 12 months ago .

It's a British car; their company, their rules. (Or maybe we should ask the Indians, since they own it now.)In all seriousness: if you speak with an American accent to an American, the three-syllable pronunciation is going to sound pretentious. If you're talking with the dealer, you can pronounce it any way you like, because you're about to drop six figures on a freakin' car.

Although we and the Brits speak English, the English language has many inflections or mini dialects, such as American English, British English, Caribbean English, Indian English, and any other place the British empire ruled. Someone once said that the Americans and British are cousins separated by a common language. Words and terms are different between American English and British English.

They say car park, we say parking lot, they say lift, we say elevator, they say kerb, we say curb, they say round about, we say traffic circle, etc, etc. They also have different pronunciations for certain words (not only jaguar) Al-you-min-i-um, is aluminum, Car-RIB-be-an, is Caribbean. If you are American the proper prounciation would be Jag-wahr otherwise it would sound like you are trying to put on airs. If you are a Brit then Jag-yew-ahr is proper.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
