Rousseau/Locke/Smith/Mill on private property?

Would you need to even ask this question, if you understood that there is no 'free-will', no 'choice' but to be who and what you are at any moment! That means that you do as you must, and those around do as they must. There is no option of you not being who and what you are!

"Do what you KNOW to be right, say what you KNOW to be true, and leave with Faith and patience the consequences to God!" - F. W. Robertson.

There is a view that what is natural is best and what is natural is what is original, but this is far from the truth. Philosophers such as Hobbes, at a time when society had undergone an unbelievable disruption was reflecting upon the move from the untamed life in the wild to the co-operation of society and 'commonwealth'. He saw that the liberty to act entirely for our own benefit and as we wish has to be subjugated to the restrictions placed upon us by social living in order to enjoy the benefits such living provides.

It follows that some of the 'natural laws and rights' which we regard as 'God-given' are a response necessitated by social living. And if this life is all there is, it is clear that doing everything we can to remove friction from daily life, makes this life better for us.
