Baby faces are cute for a reason, be it animal or human. Luckily, at my age I can coo and giggle all I want as long as I don't have to take the baby whatsis home. LOL.
It's the maternal instinct in women; for men it may the path of least resistance. Reminds me of a story of a man and woman stopping by a carriage to view the baby inside. The woman went all "gooey" and remarked to the man, "Doesn't he look just like his father?"
To which replied the man, "Only if his father looks like a shriveled-up walnut. " Better that the man himself went all "gooey" instead of speaking his mind.
The maternal gene never goes away. Not all women, but most. And some men also.
I think it was put there so that helpless human babies would have a better chance to survive. I know ppl who get tired of the maternal thing, in me. And women like me.
Actually sometimes I get tired of it myself! But it just doesn't go away. I see some young person that looks tired, or dirty or not cared for, and I can't help it.
I equate that person with my children and snap, I'm a mom.
I think many of us respond to babies, children, and some animals without even thinking about it. It feels good to care for, cuddle, and interact with babies and animals. We are wired to respond to them, and when we interact with them the 'reward' centers in our brains are stimulated.
Feeling good around babies means that we are more likely to care for them until they can care for themselves; and I think some of us have a broader range of critters that provoke those feelings. Even though I know that my response to photos of kids and animals is automatic; I still enjoy the smiles and chuckles those photos bring to me when I see them.
Come on Tom,don't tell me you don't go all gooey, when you see roast lamb on the table. :) All babies are ugly, mewling, puking bags of sh*t. While baby animals, are just another animals potential meal.
I just happen to love animals, and they make me smile. Believe you, Me, I am NOT Thinking of Procreation, nor do I have a "Maternal Instinct".
Perhaps it's a reminder of a time of innocence. For most women it's maternal or nurturing instinct.
Spell check just had a nervous breakdown, left totally speachless!
It evokes thoughts of procreation. An automatic human trait.
Because babies are adorable. I seem to have a radar for babies, I am just drawn to them. I dream about babies.
It's unbidden instinct to protect the small ones. Going oh shows it.
I have no idea Tom, sorry. Perhaps if the photo was of a relative or pet of theirs? Cheers.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
